The Vasco da Gama memorial clock (Durban, South Africa), one of only three of its kind in the world, located on Margaret Mncadi Avenue (originally in Point Rd, now Mahatma Gandhi) was a gift from the people of Portugal to the city of Durban and was erected in 1897 to mark the 400th anniversary of the Portuguese explorer’s voyage to India.
Unfortunately, the clock has fallen into disrepair of late. A restoration project has been set up to move the clock from its current location, repair and restore the memorial and re-erect it at a new, safe location.
The project team would be most appreciative for any donation made to help towards the restoration.
Many thanks
