Ubuhlebethu 1203 is a registered non-profit organization that offers care for physical needs of children while ministering to their emotional and spiritual needs. It was established in 2016 and registered with Social Development Department in 2017. Since its inception, the organization has strived to exist as a one stop foster care with a desire to provide an ideal home to the orphans and vulnerable children, adolescent girls and young people who are experiencing gender based violence and domestic violence. The organization is led by young people with the youngest women who’s the chairperson of the board of directors. These young people with key leadership roles in the organization are the products of children who grew up in the orphanage or foster homes due to violation of their rights. Their vision has assisted the organization to design its programs in a child and youth friendly access with a peer to peer support methodology. Indeed, Ubuhlebethu1203 serves the most vulnerable children and youth around Southernwood and striving to reach other children and youth through outreach sites in the Eastern Cape Province.
