Tshupe Hospice

IN-PATIENT UNIT (IPU)

This is a facility that provides 24-hour palliative care, usually these units have limited number of beds and have specific criteria for admission.

A patient who has pain that is difficult to control at home, or a patient whose need respite, or a patient who has absolutely no support systems at home.

An In-patient unit is for patients who require short-term intensive medical care, pain and symptom control or terminal care. Patients are also admitted when the family needs a break. Many patients return to their homes once pain and other symptoms are under control.

HOME BASED CARE

Patients are visited in their homes on daily basis just to check their well-being and also to ensure if ever they adhere to their treatment and honour their appointment. We have a team of trained caregivers who visited patients and their families at home

PATIENT DAY CARE SERVICE

Patients are collected from their homes in the morning and come to hospice for day care then transported back home in the afternoon. Day Care enables patients to receive attention to all aspect of their illnesses and suffering and it also enables patient to meet with others in the similar situation to themselves in a friendly social environment.

ORPHANS & VULNERABLE CHILDREN

The programme was launched on the 01/08/2008 after Social Development initiated the programme.

The aim of this programme is to ensure that Orphans and Vulnerable Children have access to health care and to provide psychological support to children.
