The Bateleurs - Flying for the Environment in Africa is a Johannesburg-based, non-profit, Section 21 organisation, with over 150 volunteer pilot members in South Africa and neighbouring countries. Our pilot members donate their time and expertise, and the use of their privately-owned light aircraft, to provide aerial surveys and other aerial assistance at the request of a range of diverse organisations. These missions provide valuable information for policy makers, scientists, community leaders, the media, and conservationists and environmentalists. Essentially, we offer these organisations or individuals the opportunity to view the environment from an aerial perspective. We call these organisations ‘beneficiaries’ and there is no charge at all to a beneficiary for a Bateleurs-supported flight.
