Sibonelo Dance Project

Sibonelo Dance Project has been in operation since 2008 and was officially registered in 2011.The aims of the project are:
- to contribute to the cultural capital of South Africa through challenging the conventions of contemporary African dance and creating unique works
- to emotionally and physically uplift children from disadvantaged backgrounds through teaching and the performance of contemporary African dance on professional platforms
- to ultimately provide job opportunities for young adults through a professional dance company (funding permitted). Currently, we have a young adult programme which creates opportunities for young adults to perform on a professional platform, but we would like this to grow into a professional company of paid performers. This will also provide a pathway for the children coming through our programme
