River Rescue is a non-profit organisation established for the following public benefit objectives: 2.1 Primary objective: Restore and maintain rivers, springs, wetlands in and around the city of Makhanda (Grahamstown) for the benefit of the ecosystem, including the people who live within it. 2.2 Conduct any further activities, including but not limited to, conducting research, publicity campaigns and capacity building towards stewardship and community involvement of the rivers, in support of the primary objective. Activities include, but are not limited to developing and training teams to identify problems of sewage and water leaks; reporting such problems to the relevant bodies; measuring river health using mini-SASS; identifying alien vegetation, and in cleaning and caring for the rivers where we live.
