Rainbows and Smiles is small Public Benefit Organisation that supports children with cancer. We provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child or children of that family is diagnosed with a life threatening illness such as cancer.
In addition, Rainbows and Smiles encourage childhood cancer awareness to educate in the hope of promoting early detection. We educate people on the early warning signs in the hope that we could help save the life of a child with cancer.
Rainbows and Smiles mobilise across racial boundaries, amongst the physically challenged, beyond class, religion, cultural and gender and we are guided by democratic principles.
Rainbows and Smiles principles include creating hope, smiles and relief for families and caregivers of children with cancer. Most people are not aware that when cancer attacks a child, it attacks a family. Once cancer has attacked, it is not long before many hard working families begin to lose everything because they have a choice to make: stay home to care for their child and family or leave to go to work. They make this decision with a heavy heart knowing that whatever choice will have an adverse effect on their family.
The organisation was founderd Bonita Suckling; a mother of a child, Jed Brady Suckling. Sadly, Jed passed away at the age of 6; after a 3 year battle with aggressive cancer. Your assistance and help means so much to us but even more to these children and their families. Thank you for considering running YOUR marathon for Rainbows and Smiles and for making a difference in the life of a child with cancer.
