Many children within the Valley of 1000 Hills (a rural area within KwaZulu Natal, South Africa) face extreme poverty daily. Struggling to survive, these children have little to no hope of a good education and ultimately a wonderful future. Project Hope firmly believes that "early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society". Knowing that children's brains develop the most in the first five years of their life, Project Hope partners with rural preschools, using them as a platform through which to offer children an awesome childhood. Using an integrated model of care within partners' early childhood development centers, Project Hope's model incorporates: 1. Infrastructure upliftment: new classrooms, kitchen, ablution facilities, playgrounds, fencing, signage, water storage tanks, and vegetable gardens 2. Education: teacher training support and classroom curriculum and equipment provision 3. Emergency assistance 4. Nutritional support 5. Health monitoring
