IOPSA and PIRB are establishing a fund to support plumbers who have been retrenched or temporarily laid off (no-work-no-pay). Both organisations have agreed to contribute initial seed capital. We request that all plumbers, plumbing suppliers, importers, manufacturers and individuals working in the plumbing industry contribute any additional funding that they are able to give. No amount is too small, any contribution you make will help to support a fellow plumber in need.
The funds will be paid into a bank account administered by IOPSA.
IOPSA members and PIRB registered plumbers will be able to apply to the fund for assistance for the plumbers in their employ who are not earning a salary/wage during the lockdown. Funds for successful applications will be paid directly to those companies’ bank accounts and they will be required to pay the funds directly to the affected employees. Proof of payment to affected employees will be required.
All available funds will be shared in equal proportion with the successful applications.
All available funds will be utilised exclusively to assist affected plumbers, there will be no administration fees or any other costs.
The fund will be audited by J Theron & Pietersen Incorporated (Chartered Accountants) once all funds have been paid out and their report will be made publicly available.
