Another Way Trust - Leopard Trail

The principal objective of the Another Way Trust (AWT) is to be a vehicle for social and economic transformation in the Baviaanskloof. The AWT is a registered Not for Profit Organisation (NPO) created by the Booth family in 2005. The beneficiaries of the Trust are the historically disadvantaged community of the Baviaanskloof.

The Trust initiates and supports projects in the Baviaanskloof area that will lead to the development of successful pro-poor community based economic development. Methodologies and approaches are used that are aimed at fundamentally altering the socio economic patterns in the area and create an environment for communities to grow with dignity, focusing on opportunities within the Green Economy.

The Another Way Trust focuses on developing successful businesses owned and managed by members of the local community. The Trust combines an incubator approach with an intense coaching methodology, ensuring the support for each project is customised to the skills, ability and mindset of each entrepreneur. High value is placed on the demonstrated commitment and responsibility of the local entrepreneur. In many cases the AWT initiates projects and businesses, and local entrepreneurs go through a testing period to demonstrate their suitability for the project. Where an appropriate match is not made, another individual in the community is provided an opportunity to grow into the business.
