Gogo on Tour

Gogo On Tour Organisation (G.O.T) is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), which was established in May 2012 after observing how our senior citizens affectionately known as “Gogos” in South Africa, are ‘discarded’ once they reach the age of retirement. We want to do away with the “one foot in the grave” mentality. Our Gogos comprise of valued members of society. They contributed to the esteemed professionals we have today and yet they remain an afterthought.

The concept of taking Gogos on tour is to broaden their horizons. The tours will ensure that our Gogos have the opportunity to meet their peers from different walks of life and to explore beautiful cities within South Africa and its rich historical background its strong cultural diversity, with the possibility of going beyond the borders of South Africa in time.

The success of this organization will be beneficial to community development. It will also stimulate domestic tourism, while creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the community. Gogo On Tour endeavours to create a caring society between the youth and the elderly.

The project is initially earmarked for the Tshwane region. Gogos from Soshanguve, Mamelodi Atteridgeville, Hammanskraal and surrounding areas will be selected to participate in this ground-breaking initiative. Different forms of communication will be used to invite interested Gogos to put forward their applications for consideration.
Private and public sectors are encouraged to come on board with us as we fulfil the lifelong dreams of our most valued citizens.
