Jo'burg Child Welfare is one of the oldest and largest children's NGOs in South Africa, caring for 45,000 children and their families on an annual basis. JCW runs Othandweni Family Care Centre, Elton John Masibambisane Centre for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children, Princess Alice Adoption Home, and Thembalethu Life Skills and Economic Empowerment Centre. The bulk of our work is performed by our social workers in the Child and Family Unit, Foster Care and Re-Integration department, and Child Abuse Treatment and Services department. Besides this, we also do a lot of work in the area of advocacy and we founded and run the Aganang Training Centre to train social auxilliary workers.
We do a huge amount of work in a variety of areas but our mission statement is clear: Jo'burg Child Welfare cares about children, their families and communities, promoting their rights, well being and dignity.
