The J9 Foundation is a registered charity organization set up by South African Rugby Legend Joost van der Westhuizen in aid of those suffering from the same fatal illness he was diagnosed with in early 2011, Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
Joost has created a platform through this foundation to allow us as people, companies and friends to support the quality of life programs available within this foundation.
The J9 Foundation’s core objective is to raise awareness, both locally and internationally for Motor Neuron Disease. One of the main challenges we face in South Africa is the lack of knowledge of the disease. This lack of knowledge isn’t only experienced amongst the general public but is also a common occurrence amongst medical practitioners and nursing staff.
Our vision is for all MND patients to be correctly diagnosed, to receive the best care possible, and achieve the highest quality of life.
