The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pre-School is a project run mostly on donations and fundraising for the farm community in the Hemel-en-Aarde area. The school was started in 1996 and from 2013 renewed energy has been put into the school to enable the school to run as its own entity and to provide a much needed service to help us educate the children from our farms.
The school has 29 children from farms in the Hemel-en-Aarde area. We have 3 teachers, 2 of which is employed from the community.
Children who receive quality early childhood development are significantly more likely to grow up to be productive and constructive citizens of the world. There is now widespread consensus that investing in early childhood development services has a far higher return on spending than more traditional attempts to address poverty and inequality. In one of the most complex and seemingly intractable challenges of human society, which the greatest and most sophisticated minds have attempted to solve, it is the youngest of us who have proven to be the most important players.
We would like to provide top quality education, while inspiring the children in a safe and happy environment.
The school is situated on Hamilton Russell Vineyards and is the only registered ECD facility in the Hemel-en-Aarde area between Hermanus and Caledon.
We are very happy to have a beautiful safe facility, maintained by Hamilton Russell Vineyards, with a fenced playground and 3 class rooms. The school also has a kitchen and 3 bathrooms.
With school fees is at a minimum to make the education of their children affordable, it does however mean that the school mainly runs on donations and fund raising.
