The GWT Foundation was founded on a simple philosophy: "Get Up Together!" Based on the premise that a tree does not eat its own fruit, the Marimuthus instilled the principle in their congregants, friends, and family that as we progress, we should bring at least 10 other people up with us. And so, the programs began! David & Jolene Marimuthu, the founders, had been involved in charitable initiatives for more than two decades when they realized the need for a more formal structure to facilitate their endeavours. Community members in the area relied heavily on their benevolence in aiding the aged, destitute, and homeless. Through their church, they provided empowerment programs, housing, bursaries, and healthcare education. From time to time, relief programs for flood victims and other natural disasters required aid on a larger scale.
