Foodshare Project

Foodshare Project runs weekly soup kitchens in Phumlani Village, an impoverished community in cape Town. We use ingredients that are donated by people, local businesses or companies and but mainly ourselves.

Food insecurity is a great concern for many households in South Africa. This situation is connected to the
high level of poverty that exists in the country, particularly in rural areas.

Despite adequate food supply and distribution on a national level, the determinant of food security is
accessibility and affordability of food by individual households. Poverty and unemployment cause 20%
of households to be food insecure.

Our intention is to contribute to the larger cause of ending hunger and poverty in South Africa

We have goals to help the local community of Phumlani by establishing vegetable gardens, building an education centre and continuing to share food.

We do require a lot of support and funding to realise this vision for this community. Please show support by donating or volunteering or sharing your ideas, skills and/or connections :-)

...in the spirit of Ubuntu, we feel that creating a culture of sharing is vital for the upliftment of all people in our society... and by sharing the basic necessity of food, we hope to assist in laying the foundation of fulfilling this vision.
