The Drakenstein Heemkring is a volunteer organisation that studies and collects cultural historical information on the history of Paarl and the Drakenstein Valley. The Heemkring's collection includes 30 000 photographs from the late 19th century to early 20th century, books, old newspapers on microfilm, documents and interviews with residents of the town. Volunteers also undertake various research projects. The organisation was founded in 1978.
