Every year thousands of children are abandoned in hospitals or left to die due to poverty and HIV in South Africa. Thousands more are left to sit at home or in backyard crèches with little to no education. The doors for their future are closed, the answers NO, and in each abandoned, neglected, and under stimulated child the cycle of poverty begins again. Botshabelo is passionate about transforming children’s lives.
We care for orphaned and abandoned babies in our Babies Home. Since opening in 2000, we have cared for over 200 children seeing over 180 adopted or reunified with their families.
We educate children from impoverished and emerging famlies in our Urban Kids Preschool. Opening with 7 children, we have grown to over 108 children in 6 classrooms, serving 554 children since 2011.
We partner with preschool teachers and principals to uplift the standard of education in their impoverished settings. Empowering over 150 Early Childhood Development practitioners in 2018, we are working closely with another group this year.
